Jar for Olive Oil 19th Century

Jar for Olive Oil 19th Century

An antique jar that was used to make olive oil. Many years ago, the precious an delicious oil was stored (and transported) in jars, with high shoulders and short necks, with each civilization creating their own version of the "olive oil" jar. Since we are not limited by terra cotta jars for storage or transportation anymore, the symbolic shape of the olive oil jar still resounds, specifically in the realm of agriculture and (ornamental) gardening.
